Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi held separate telephone conversations with Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff, Asim Munir, and Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud to discuss diplomatic efforts aimed at easing regional tensions.
Al Jazeera, early Monday, August 3, reported that this was the second conversation between Araghchi and his Saudi counterpart in recent days.
According to the report, Araghchi said the Iranian, Saudi, and Pakistani officials exchanged views on the current regional situation and on initiatives aimed at preserving and strengthening security and stability in West Asia.
Araghchi added: “The parties also emphasized the need to make use of regional cooperation mechanisms and political solutions in pursuing these efforts.”
The talks come as U.S. President Donald Trump recently announced that negotiations between the United States and Iran are expected to begin on Monday.
