The Taliban’s Ministry for the Propagation of Virtue and Prevention of Vice has banned the use of fireworks and similar devices at weddings, celebrations and other festive gatherings.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, October 27, the ministry said the use of fireworks and any devices that cause fear, disturb people or create psychological distress was strictly prohibited.

The Taliban warned that anyone violating the order would face Sharia-based and legal action.

The ministry did not provide details about the type of punishment or measures that would be taken against violators.

Previously, the Taliban’s Ministry of Interior had banned the use of fireworks after 9 p.m. in some cities across the country.
