The Taliban have claimed progress in the construction of the TAPI gas pipeline in Herat province.
Hamdullah Fitrat, deputy spokesperson for the Taliban, stated on Tuesday, March 31, that so far 25 kilometers of the TAPI gas pipeline have been built.
He added that an additional 120-kilometer area has been prepared for the continuation of the pipeline’s construction.
The TAPI project officially began in September 2025 between Turkmenistan and the Taliban.
The project is designed to transport Turkmenistan’s natural gas through Afghanistan and Pakistan to India.
The pipeline will connect to Herat after covering 150 kilometers through Turkmenistan’s territory.
Turkmen officials had previously said that the TAPI gas pipeline would reach Herat by mid-2026.
