The Taliban Foreign Ministry has summoned Pakistan’s chargé d’affaires in Kabul following Pakistani airstrikes on Kandahar, Paktia and Khost provinces.
The ministry said in a statement issued on Thursday, September 24, that it had handed its protest note to Pakistan’s chargé d’affaires and strongly condemned the country’s airstrikes.
The statement said that following Pakistani military airstrikes on parts of Kandahar, Paktia and Khost provinces last night, several civilians were killed and wounded.
The Taliban Foreign Ministry said the actions contradicted Islamic principles, international law, humanitarian law and the principles of good-neighbourly relations.
The Taliban also described as baseless and rejected claims that identify Afghanistan’s territory as the source of recent security incidents in Pakistan.
The Taliban Foreign Ministry accused Pakistan of distorting facts, misleading public opinion and ignoring its regional responsibilities by making such claims.
