Noor Jalal Jalali, the Taliban’s acting minister of public health, has called for greater Russian cooperation to improve the quality of healthcare services in Afghanistan during a meeting with Mikhail Albertovich Murashko, Russia’s health minister.
Hamidullah Fitrat, deputy spokesperson for the Taliban, said in a statement on Saturday, October 3, that the meeting focused on developing long-term health cooperation between the Taliban and Russia.
The two sides also discussed imports and cooperation in the areas of medicines, vaccines and medical equipment, as well as capacity building for Afghan healthcare workers.
Meanwhile, Murashko said Russia is ready to expand its technical cooperation with the Taliban in the health sector.
The Russian health minister also emphasized cooperation to strengthen health ties between the two sides.
The Taliban and Russia also discussed strengthening coordination between relevant institutions and continuing joint cooperation in the health sector.
