The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) has said that access to clean water in schools helps protect children’s health on the occasion of Global Handwashing Day.
In a post on its X account on Thursday, October 15, UNICEF said that the availability of clean water and soap in schools protects children against diseases caused by contaminated water.
Referring to the situation of children in Afghanistan, UNICEF said that access to safe water, sanitation services and hygiene facilities are among the basic needs of the population.
The organisation added that it is working to improve access to safe water and health services for people across Afghanistan.
