The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) has announced that a nationwide polio vaccination campaign will begin in Afghanistan today.
The organization said on Monday, September 21, on its X account that UNICEF teams, with support from donors, are on the ground to vaccinate children under five against polio.
UNICEF said the teams will work to reach every child under five, even in the most remote areas of Afghanistan.
The campaign aims to protect children against polio, a disease that can be prevented through vaccination.
Meanwhile, the Afghanistan Polio-Free organization has emphasized that vaccinating children can help make Afghanistan free of polio.
