A small passenger plane has crashed in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, killing 17 people, including four crew members and two senior judicial officials.
Agence France-Presse (AFP) reported early Sunday, September 27, that the country’s Ministry of Transport announced the incident and said senior judicial officials were among those killed.
According to the report, the plane, which was carrying a military judicial delegation, crashed on Friday more than 200 kilometers east of Kinshasa, the capital.
Air travel plays an important role in the vast country, where the road network is often in poor condition.
However, air travel also carries particular risks, as the condition of some airports and radar equipment in the country remains inadequate.
