The United States Geological Survey (USGS) has reported that a 4.9-magnitude earthquake struck Afghanistan’s Nangarhar province on Tuesday morning.
The agency reported on Tuesday, August 25, that the earthquake occurred at around 6 a.m. local time, with its epicenter reported near Jalalabad city.
According to published information, the earthquake occurred at a depth of about 4 kilometers underground.
No reports of casualties or possible damage from the earthquake have been released so far.
Nangarhar is one of Afghanistan’s earthquake-prone areas. Due to its proximity to the Hindu Kush Mountain range, the province has experienced several earthquakes in recent years.
