Local sources in Herat province say the bodies of two children, aged five and seven, have been found in Ghorian district of the province.
Sources told the Hasht-e Subh Daily on Sunday that the two children were named Khalid and Idris and were brothers.
The sources added that the two children had gone missing less than a week apart.
According to the sources, the bodies of the children were found after a search in Ghorian district.
No further details are currently available about how the incident occurred or the motive behind their killing.
Recently, cases of mysterious killings, kidnappings, and disappearances have increased in several provinces.
This comes as the Taliban have repeatedly claimed that they have ensured nationwide security.
