The Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) at the United States Embassy in Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia, has been targeted by a suspected Iranian drone attack.
Reuters reported on Tuesday evening, March 3, citing a source familiar with the matter, that the CIA headquarters was not the direct target and that the attack caused only a limited fire.
According to the report, the CIA declined to comment.
Washington’s mission in the kingdom subsequently warned Americans to avoid the embassy until further notice “due to an attack” on the facility.
“There is a threat of imminent missile and UAV attacks over Dhahran. Do not come to the US Consulate,” the mission said in a security alert.
The attack came amid ongoing strikes in the Middle East following Saturday’s US and Israeli attacks on Iran.
