Former US President Barack Obama has said that Americans want a political approach that promotes unity rather than division, following the Democrats’ victories in the midterm elections.
In a post on X on Tuesday, November 3, Obama said Democrats must now take action in areas where they hold power to bring about change and prevent further harm.
He added that the election results showed Americans wanted leaders who could find practical solutions to their problems and challenges.
During the final week of the election campaign, Obama also campaigned in support of several Democratic candidates. In his speeches, he repeatedly criticised US President Donald Trump and his administration.
The results of the US midterm elections indicate that Democrats will take control of both chambers of Congress, the Senate and the House of Representatives.
So far, Democrats have secured 54 Senate seats, while Republicans have won 43. The outcome of four seats remains uncertain. Nevertheless, Democrats have secured a majority in the Senate.
