António Guterres, the Secretary-General of the United Nations, said on the occasion of Eid al-Adha that the world is currently facing conflict, division, and violence, and that people should draw inspiration from the spirit of unity and solidarity that this occasion represents.
Guterres wrote on X on Wednesday, May 27, that Eid al-Adha is an opportunity to strengthen feelings of empathy, compassion, and collective responsibility among people.
“At a time of conflict, division, and violence, let us all be inspired by this celebration’s spirit of solidarity, community, compassion, and empathy,” Guterres said.
He also extended his congratulations to all Muslims who are celebrating Eid al-Adha.
