After the shooting of civilians, particularly Shiite Muslims, in Herat province, Rahmatullah Nabil, the former head of the National Security Directorate, says that the Taliban are deliberately turning religious differences into a “crime.”
Nabil added on Sunday, April 12, that around 21 people were shot in this incident.
He added, “When differences are deliberately turned into a crime by the rulers of Afghanistan, undoubtedly, humanity is trampled.”
Nabil has stated that the killing of innocent people because of differences is a crime against humanity.
He added, “Our survival lies in mutual acceptance and living together.”
Meanwhile, Rangin Dadfar Spanta, the former Foreign Minister of Afghanistan, has also said that the shooting of civilians in Herat was carried out because of religious differences.
According to sources, motorcycle-riding attackers on Friday shot dead civilians who had gone out for recreation in the village of “Deh Miri” in the Injil district of Herat province.
Sources say that many of those who were shot were Shiite Muslims.
The Taliban claim that 11 people were killed in the incident and several others were injured.
