Some residents of Herat say that over the past five years, following the Taliban’s return to power in Afghanistan, the challenges and difficulties in their daily lives have increased significantly.
Sources told the Hasht-e Subh Daily on Sunday, August 9, that the continuation of current restrictions and difficult conditions has made life increasingly difficult for them, and that many residents of the province can no longer tolerate the situation.
They say that during these five years, they have lost many of their rights and opportunities, including personal freedoms, the right to education, employment, advancement, recreation and living in peace.
Residents of Herat have also expressed concern over rising economic difficulties, poverty and hunger, saying that meeting their families’ basic needs has become increasingly difficult.
According to them, the lack of employment opportunities and declining household purchasing power have left many people struggling even to cover their daily living expenses.
Residents of Herat are calling on the Taliban to ease existing restrictions and provide people with opportunities for employment and education, personal freedoms, and the conditions needed for a stable and peaceful life.
