Amir Khan Muttaqi, the Taliban’s foreign minister, has met with Tarig Ali Bakheet, Assistant Secretary-General of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), to discuss the Taliban’s relations with the organisation and ways to expand cooperation.
The Taliban’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement on Sunday, October 11, that the meeting covered the appointment of the organisation’s new secretary-general, the Taliban’s position in the organisation’s outlook, and constructive engagement.
According to the statement, the two sides also discussed the situation in Afghanistan and the region, as well as political and economic developments involving regional countries and the wider world.
The Taliban’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs added that the meeting emphasised strengthening relations between the Taliban and the OIC and creating new opportunities for cooperation.
