South Korea’s military has announced that North Korea launched a ballistic missile toward waters off its eastern coast early Saturday.
Reuters reported early Saturday, October 3, that the missile was launched at around 6:30 a.m. local time.
According to the report, South Korea’s military did not provide details on the distance traveled by the missile.
Meanwhile, Japan’s Coast Guard said in a statement that the object was likely a ballistic missile and appeared to have fallen.
North Korea’s previous ballistic missile launches have repeatedly heightened tensions in the Far East region.
