North Korea has announced a military drill involving artillery and missile forces, saying the missile launches were part of a live-fire exercise.
Reuters reported on Monday, September 14, that the drill was conducted on Saturday, following the five-day “Freedom Edge” joint exercise involving South Korea, the United States, and Japan, which ended on Friday.
According to the report, the announcement was made by North Korea’s official Korean Central News Agency (KCNA).
KCNA said the “joint firepower attack exercise” involved five army units and tested several weapons systems, including attack drones, tactical cruise missiles, tactical ballistic missiles, and high-caliber multiple rocket launchers.
This comes as North Korean state media had previously remained silent about several recent missile tests reported by South Korea.
