The Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) has emphasised its continued support for girls’ education and the provision of humanitarian and economic assistance to Afghanistan at a meeting of the Afghanistan Coordination Group in Doha.

The organisation announced on Wednesday, October 21, that counterterrorism, nutrition and food security are among its priorities in Afghanistan.

The OIC stressed the importance of cooperation with the United Nations (UN), the World Bank and the European Union (EU) to support Afghanistan.

The organisation said cooperation among these institutions is essential to coordinating and sustaining humanitarian and economic assistance to the people of Afghanistan.

Since the Taliban’s return to power in Afghanistan, restrictions on women’s and girls’ access to education and employment have become a major issue in international discussions.

Meanwhile, the people of Afghanistan continue to face extensive humanitarian needs and economic difficulties, while international organisations emphasise the importance of continuing to assist them.
