The Taliban have announced that yesterday 1,033 families, comprising 5,363 individuals, were forcibly returned to Afghanistan.
Hamdullah Fitrat, deputy spokesperson for the Taliban, said in a statement released on Monday, May 18, that only through the Torkham crossing, 839 families consisting of 4,469 individuals entered the country.
According to the statement, 110 families were returned through the Spin Boldak border in Kandahar, 54 families through the Nimruz border, and 30 families through the Islam Qala border in Herat.
Meanwhile, in recent months, the process of returning Afghan migrants has intensified, increasing social and economic pressure on vulnerable families and host communities.
In recent days, international aid organizations have expressed concern over the large-scale deportation of Afghan migrants from Iran and Pakistan.
