Reporters Without Borders (RSF) has condemned the detention of 12 journalists by the Taliban’s Morality Police in Khost.
The organization said in a statement published on its X page on Tuesday, September 8, that the journalists’ work equipment had been confiscated due to the Taliban’s ban on photographing living beings.
According to the statement, Reporters Without Borders described the Taliban’s action as repressive and condemned it.
The detention of the journalists and confiscation of their work equipment by the Taliban’s Directorate for the Propagation of Virtue and Prevention of Vice in Khost has also been condemned by other organizations supporting journalists.
It is worth noting that since the Taliban retook control of Afghanistan, the operations of dozens of media outlets have been suspended, while journalists, particularly women journalists, have faced increasing pressure.
