Local sources say Taliban fighters raided the home of General Matiullah Khan, the former police chief of Uruzgan province under the previous government, and searched his house and the surrounding area.
Sources told the Hasht-e Subh Daily on Sunday, October 25, that Taliban fighters arrived at the former official’s home in military vehicles on Saturday evening and searched various parts of the property.
According to the sources, the fighters treated General Matiullah Khan’s family members disrespectfully and told them to hand over any weapons in their possession.
Meanwhile, the Taliban’s police command media office in Uruzgan announced that its fighters had seized four Kalashnikov rifles and 250 rounds of ammunition during an operation in the province.
A statement from the Taliban’s police command in Uruzgan said the ammunition had been kept at the home of a former military official.
General Matiullah Khan was an influential figure within Uruzgan’s police force under the previous government. He was mysteriously killed in Kabul in 2015.
