Sources in Kabul say the Taliban have set a monthly rent of 4,000 afghanis per room for residents and tenants of Omid Sabz Township in western Kabul.
Sources told the Hasht-e Subh Daily on Tuesday, October 6, that the Taliban have asked tenants to pay six months’ rent in advance.
The sources added that the Taliban have distributed forms among residents, requiring them to pay rent.
The sources said the Taliban have also warned residents of several other townships in western Kabul about rent payments.
The sources added: “These townships include Jaghoris Township, Ateh Abu Zar Township, Mahdia Township, Sorkhabad and the township behind Abdul Ali Mazari Martyr’s Mosque.”
The Taliban’s Ministry of Justice previously announced that it had seized more than 1,500 jeribs of land belonging to Omid Sabz Township in Kabul.
