A student in Paktia province burned his graduation gown and certificates to protest against the rise in unemployment in Afghanistan.
A video clip was made available to Hasht-e Subh on Saturday (December 3rd), showing a student burning his graduation gown and certificate in front of the entrance gate of Paktia University.
The young man says in the video clip that the Taliban hate university alumni, firing them from government posts and depriving them of working in government agencies.
It is said that this symbolic move was made in response to the appointment of Taliban-affiliated people to important government posts.
Every year hundreds of people graduate from various Afghan institutions. But due to excessive unemployment, they either migrate or turn to daily manual labor jobs.
