Local sources say that the Taliban’s Morality Police in Herat have detained two women at two commercial centers in the city.
Sources told the Hasht-e Subh Daily on Wednesday, July 29, that the Taliban detained a woman at around 6:35 pm while she was leaving the parking area of a shopping center on Herat’s 64-meter Road and took her away.
According to the sources, the woman was wearing a manteau, and three female Morality Police officers detained her.
The sources added that the Taliban’s male Morality Police officers did not allow the woman’s husband to get out of the vehicle.
The sources also said that minutes after this incident, another woman was detained by the Taliban from another commercial complex in Herat.
These detentions come as the Taliban in Herat had issued an order stating that women are required to comply with the group’s preferred dress code and that failure to do so would result in detention.
