After two months of detention by Taliban, Zakaria Osuly, a university professor, is said to be in critical condition in their intelligence prison, according to his brother, Mohammad Shapur Bakhsi.
In an interview with Hasht-e Subh on Saturday, April 8, Bakhsi stated that his brother is facing a serious situation in Taliban’s prison and needs urgent medical attention.
According to Bakhsi, Taliban only allow their mother to visit Osuly, and during their last visit a week ago, Osuly complained of severe pain to his mother.
He added that their attempts to release Osuly have been unsuccessful despite multiple visits to Taliban security agencies.
Osuly’s brother stated that he is a human rights defender and a well-educated individual with no affiliation to any political or military group.
Bakhsi is disappointed with the lack of action from human rights organizations in securing Asli’s release and is calling on the Taliban to release his brother.
Two months ago, Zakaria Osuly, a university professor, researcher, and writer, was arrested by Taliban in Kabul, and the reason for his detention has not been disclosed to date.
