Sources in Badakhshan say that a Taliban helicopter has crashed in Nusay district of the province.

Sources confirmed to the Hasht-e Subh Daily on Thursday, August 13, that the helicopter crashed today in “Rag-e Kafshin,” in the center of Nusay district.

No details have so far been released about casualties from the incident.

Earlier, sources had said that the Taliban were deploying their reinforcements to the area by helicopter to fight Juma Khan Fateh, a dissatisfied commander of the group.

Meanwhile, the Taliban mayor of Faizabad, the capital of Badakhshan province, was killed today in a mine explosion.

According to sources, the vehicle carrying Abdul Rahman Mansour, the Taliban mayor, was targeted by a magnetic mine, and he died after being transferred to a hospital.
