Local sources in Omid-e Sabz Township in western Kabul say that armed Taliban members have stolen belongings from a residential house in the township.
Sources confirmed to the Hasht-e Subh Daily on Thursday, October 15, that armed men who identified themselves as a delegation from the Taliban Ministry of Justice had stolen belongings from a residential house in Phase Three of the township.
According to the sources, several armed Taliban members forcibly entered the house and took some cash and gold.
The sources added that harassment of residents by Taliban members has increased and that no institution is addressing their complaints.
This comes two days after another residential house in Phase Four of Omid-e Sabz Township was looted by Taliban members in a similar incident.
The sources say that since the Taliban began inspecting houses in Omid-e Sabz Township, residents of the area have repeatedly faced mistreatment by members of the group.
According to the sources, the Taliban have appointed their own members as guards and security personnel in several high-rise buildings and apartment blocks in the township.
The Taliban Ministry of Justice has declared the land in Omid-e Sabz Township to have been illegally seized and imposed heavy rents on property owners who built their homes using their own money.
Despite criticism from inside and outside the country, the Taliban Ministry of Justice continues to insist on the forced eviction of residents from their homes.
During inspections of houses in Omid-e Sabz Township, the Taliban have so far evicted dozens of families from their homes.
