Nooruddin Azizi, the Taliban’s Minister of Industry and Commerce, met with Shavkat Mirziyoyev, the President of Uzbekistan, on the sidelines of the Fourth Tashkent International Investment Forum (TIIF).

The Taliban’s Ministry of Industry and Commerce wrote on its X page on Wednesday, June 11, that the two sides discussed expanding cooperation in trade and economic sectors, transportation, logistics, energy, agriculture, and mining.

The Taliban delegation attended the Fourth Tashkent International Investment Forum at the official invitation of Uzbekistan.

The Uzbek President had previously expressed his country’s readiness to strengthen trade relations with the Taliban.

Although Uzbekistan has not formally recognized the Taliban, it has established close commercial ties with the group.
