The administration of U.S. President Donald Trump has deported an Afghan citizen, whose brothers worked with the U.S. military, along with dozens of others to the Central African Republic.
The Associated Press reported on Sunday, August 30, that Alma David, the man’s attorney, confirmed the deportation.
According to the report, Alma David said a U.S. judge had blocked his deportation to Afghanistan because of concerns that he could face persecution by the Taliban.
Court documents show that his family in Afghanistan had been threatened by the Taliban because of his brothers’ work supporting the U.S. military.
One of the man’s brothers lives in the United States and served in the Afghan National Army, where he worked with the U.S. military before the Taliban returned to power in 2021.
The man’s attorney said another brother was a pilot who had been trained by the United States and was killed by the Taliban.
At the same time, 11 other Afghan citizens were also deported to the Central African Republic.
