Donald Trump, the president of the United States, has criticised the Nobel Committee’s decision to award this year’s Nobel Peace Prize to Navi Pillay, calling it “shameful” and a disgrace to Norway.

Reuters reported on Friday, October 9, that Trump once again expressed his dissatisfaction at not receiving the Nobel Peace Prize, just hours after the winner was announced.

Trump said the decision left an “indelible stain” on Norway and the people who helped make it.

The US president also said the Nobel Peace Prize had lost its credibility because of what he described as the influence of “radical ideologues.”

The Nobel Committee awarded this year’s Peace Prize to Navi Pillay, a former judge of the International Criminal Court (ICC).

Pillay oversaw the preparation of a United Nations report that concluded Israel had committed genocide in Gaza.
