Donald Trump has said that he plans to speak with Benjamin Netanyahu and urge him not to retaliate against Iran following the recent missile attacks.
According to Al Jazeera, reported on Sunday, June 7, Trump made the remarks during interviews with several media outlets, including Axios and Israel’s Channel 12.
Barak Ravid, a reporter for Axios, quoted Trump on X as saying that he is “very close” to reaching an agreement with Iran that could permanently end the conflict and does not want the recent attacks to derail diplomatic efforts.
Trump said, “Iran’s attacks did not harm anyone. I hope Israel does not retaliate.”
He added that if Israel launches a counterattack, the cycle of violence and escalation will continue.
The remarks come as diplomatic efforts to reduce tensions between Iran and Israel continue, with Washington seeking a broader agreement aimed at ending the ongoing confrontation.
