Donald Trump, the President of the United States, has stated that the blockade of Iran’s ports will not be lifted until a final agreement with Iran is reached.
Al Jazeera reported on Monday, April 20, that Trump, referring to the continued blockade of Iran’s ports, spoke about the continuation of economic pressure on the country.
Trump said, “We will not lift this blockade until an agreement is reached; it is destroying Iran.”
He claimed that Iran is suffering approximately $500 million in economic losses every day and described the situation as “unsustainable.”
These remarks come after Trump had earlier said that the agreement with Iran would be signed “today” and that the American delegation was on its way to Islamabad for the second round of negotiations.
Masoud Pezeshkian, the President of Iran, responded by saying that he does not trust the United States and that “the people of Iran will not submit to coercion.”
