Donald Trump, the US president, has said that Mojtaba Khamenei, the leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran, is alive but has been seriously wounded on the left side of his body.
Trump said on Wednesday, August 26: “I don’t think he is dead. He was very badly injured.”
He added that if Khamenei has been killed, Iran has put on a “good show” by claiming that it regularly consults with him.
Trump also predicted that the war between Iran and the US would end “soon.”
He again claimed that the US had succeeded in reopening the Strait of Hormuz.
The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has said that the strategic waterway will not be reopened until the US accepts Tehran’s conditions and returns to the framework of the agreement reached in June.
