Credible sources in Logar, Paktia, Baghlan, and Maidan Wardak provinces have confirmed to the Hasht-e Subh Daily that the bodies of at least 10 Afghan Taliban fighters, who had been fighting alongside members of Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) against Pakistani security forces, were transferred from border areas to these provinces over the past week.
A credible source in Logar province says the bodies of four Taliban members, residents of Mohammad Agha district in the province, were transferred to Logar from the Kurram area of Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.
The source adds: “The bodies of these individuals remained at the site of the clash for nearly three days after they were killed and were transferred to Logar yesterday. All four of those killed were young men and were members of the Taliban’s military forces in Logar.”
At the same time, sources in Paktia and Maidan Wardak provinces have reported the transfer of the bodies of four Taliban fighters to the districts of Chak, Nerkh, and Zurmat in these two provinces. According to these sources, the individuals were killed in an ambush by Pakistani security forces in the border areas of North Waziristan while attempting to enter Pakistani territory.
Previously, sources in Baghlan province had also confirmed that the bodies of two residents of the province, who were Taliban members killed in fighting with Pakistani forces, had been transferred to Baghlan. According to the sources, these individuals were members of TTP who had joined the group after the Taliban came to power in Afghanistan. The sources add that one of these individuals was also a minor.
Findings from numerous Hasht-e Subh Daily reports show that this is not the first time that the bodies of TTP fighters, who simultaneously hold membership in the Afghan Taliban, have been transferred into the country. Previously as well, the bodies of Taliban members have repeatedly been transferred to border provinces, particularly the eastern provinces of Afghanistan.
Previously, sources had confirmed that more than 2,000 TTP families have been relocated to areas along the border strip. Additionally, findings from a Hasht-e Subh Daily report show that the Taliban has built four residential towns in Ghazni province for members of TTP and al-Qaeda.
The 35th report of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) Monitoring Team, published in February 2025, also shows that the Taliban continues to provide operational and logistical space as well as financial support to Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP). According to the report, TTP carried out more than 600 attacks against Pakistan during the period under review, several of which were launched from Afghan soil. The report also notes the establishment of new TTP training centers in Kunar, Nangarhar, Khost, and Paktika provinces, along with increased recruitment from among the Afghan Taliban.
The report states that alongside the increase in attacks, TTP has established new training centers in Kunar, Nangarhar, Khost, and Barmal district of Paktika province, and has increased its recruitment process, including recruiting members from among the Afghan Taliban. It also states that cooperation among TTP, the Afghan Taliban, and al-Qaeda in the Indian Subcontinent (AQIS) has increased, and that these groups have carried out some attacks under the name “Tehrik-e-Jihad Pakistan.”
