Fasihuddin Fitrat, the Taliban’s Chief of Army Staff, has claimed that members of the anti-Taliban fronts are not “Afghans.”
Speaking at a graduation ceremony for newly recruited Taliban forces in Kabul on Sunday, November 8, Fitrat claimed that the activities of these fronts were “staged.”
He also alleged that the Taliban’s opponents were fighting against the group on Pakistan’s orders.
The Taliban began recruiting new fighters four months ago following attacks by anti-Taliban fronts in border areas of Badakhshan and Nuristan provinces.
Fitrat accused Pakistan of supporting the Taliban’s opponents and attempting to destabilize Afghanistan. However, Pakistani officials have previously made similar accusations against the Taliban.
Earlier, a spokesperson for the Pakistani army said the Taliban must stop supporting and providing shelter to terrorist groups or face severe consequences.
He also said the Taliban were incapable of withstanding the “punishment” Pakistan could impose on them.
