The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) has announced that it will provide cash assistance to citizens of Afghanistan returning to Afghanistan after years of residence in Pakistan.

The agency wrote on its X page on Thursday, October 1, that cash assistance would be provided to support Afghan returnees with the support of the European Union’s humanitarian aid department.

The United Nations said the assistance would serve as a source of support for returnees who face difficulties during the initial stages of their return and in restarting their lives in Afghanistan.

The assistance is being provided as large numbers of citizens of Afghanistan have been returned from Pakistan to Afghanistan in recent months.

Many of them, after years of living in Pakistan, now need support and humanitarian assistance to restart their lives in Afghanistan.
