The United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat) says cities must be at the center of planning to ensure they can provide essential services and offer a safe environment for millions of people.
The agency announced on Wednesday, October 14, that it had held a meeting on the future of cities and sustainable urban development in Afghanistan in collaboration with Kardan University.
According to UN-Habitat, local experts and academics discussed the future of cities in Afghanistan during the meeting.
The event included a panel discussion and a photography exhibition and was held as part of Urban October.
Urban October is an annual global initiative launched by UN-Habitat that dedicates 31 days to sustainable urbanization and the challenges and opportunities facing cities.
