The United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) has confirmed that three civilians, including one man, one woman, and one girl, were killed and four other civilians were injured in airstrikes in Kunar province.
The organisation said on Monday, September 21, on its X account that the incident occurred in the early hours of today in Kunar province.
UNAMA said the airstrikes were “apparent” and resulted in the deaths of at least three civilians.
According to UNAMA, the organisation has recorded more than 1,100 civilian casualties in Afghanistan since the beginning of 2026 as a result of cross-border armed violence.
UNAMA has again stressed the need to respect international humanitarian law and called for necessary measures to prevent civilian casualties.
The organisation had previously also expressed concern over the consequences of cross-border clashes for civilians in Afghanistan.
