The Wall Street Journal has reported that US-allied countries in the Persian Gulf are preparing for a possible new round of US attacks on Iran.
The newspaper reported early Tuesday, November 3, that the risk of a renewed war between Iran and the United States is increasing.
According to the report, the likelihood of military confrontation has grown amid stalled diplomatic efforts and Iran’s threat to retaliate without limits.
“America’s Gulf allies are bracing for a heavy US bombardment of Iran, which they expect could set off a vicious cycle of retaliation against their own economic and civilian infrastructure early this week,” the report said.
The report also pointed to growing concerns across the region over the lack of progress in negotiations and threats made by US President Donald Trump.
During the previous round of US attacks on Iran, Arab countries along the southern coast of the Persian Gulf were also targeted by Iranian missile and drone strikes.
