The World Food Programme (WFP) has announced that the rate of malnutrition in Afghanistan, particularly among women and children, is increasing at an alarming rate.
The organization warned in a statement on Monday, November 10, 2025, that with the arrival of winter, the level of inadequate nutrition in the country is likely to increase significantly.
The World Food Programme added that for the first time in recent decades, full implementation of winter relief programs in Afghanistan may not be possible.
The statement said that this situation is “a preventable crisis” and emphasized that timely support and assistance from the international community could save the lives of thousands of Afghanistan citizens.
The World Food Programme also warned last month that the situation of hunger and malnutrition in Afghanistan is deteriorating.
The organization said it needs urgent and emergency support before the start of winter so that Afghan children and families can remain safe from the danger of severe hunger.
