Katie Zacharia, the White House’s newly appointed spokesperson, has been dismissed after less than a week in the role following a series of mistakes during her first press briefing.
Agence France-Presse reported early Saturday, October 17, that a White House official had confirmed the development to the news agency.
According to the report, US President Donald Trump had previously indicated that he was prepared to dismiss his newly appointed spokesperson amid criticism that she had misrepresented herself as a lawyer and following what was described as a highly embarrassing press briefing.
During Trump’s first presidential term, investor Anthony Scaramucci’s 11-day tenure as White House communications director was widely mocked for its brevity. Zacharia’s tenure lasted less than half as long.
