The World Health Organization (WHO) has announced that no COVID-19-related deaths have been reported in Afghanistan from January 2026 to date.
The organization reported on Sunday, September 27, that 168 confirmed COVID-19 cases were recorded in Afghanistan in August.
According to the report, the number of confirmed cases in August decreased by 9.2 percent compared with the 185 cases recorded in July.
The WHO said that 979 samples from suspected COVID-19 cases were tested in public laboratories in August.
The positivity rate of these tests was 17.2 percent, while the number of tests decreased by 38.1 percent compared with the 1,582 samples tested in July.
