The World Health Organization (WHO) in Afghanistan is raising awareness in affected communities to prevent the spread of botulism, promote early diagnosis, and ensure timely treatment of the disease.
The organization said on Wednesday, September 30, that it had distributed educational and awareness materials through surveillance support teams in affected areas.
The World Health Organization added that these teams are informing people about how to recognize the early symptoms of botulism, safely prepare and store food, and seek immediate medical care if symptoms occur.
The organization stressed that these measures can help reduce severe complications from the disease and save lives.
