Local sources say three children were killed and eight others injured after a Taliban Ranger vehicle overturned in Spin Boldak district of Kandahar province.

The sources told the Hasht-e Subh Daily on Sunday, August 16, that the incident occurred on Saturday afternoon near the Esmatullah Mandi area in the Tel Market of Spin Boldak district.

According to the sources, the Taliban were transporting dozens of children in a Ranger vehicle for the August 15 celebrations when the vehicle overturned, killing three children and injuring eight others.

The sources added that the incident occurred during celebrations held by the Taliban across the country to mark August 15.

The Taliban marked the fifth anniversary of their rule over Afghanistan across the country on Saturday, August 15.

In some areas, the Taliban forced local residents, shopkeepers and vendors to buy and install the group’s flags. Some people were also forced to participate in the celebrations.
