Local sources say 11 miners have been trapped under debris following the collapse of a mine in Chah Ab district of Takhar Province.

Sources told the Hasht-e Subh Daily on Thursday, October 1, that the incident occurred last Monday, September 26, in Samti village, in Chah Ab district of Takhar Province.

According to the sources, the 11 miners have not yet been pulled out from under the debris, and their fate remains unknown.

The sources added that the Taliban have so far taken no action to rescue the miners trapped under the debris.

Meanwhile, no further information has been provided about the cause of the mine collapse or the miners’ exact condition.

This comes as the lack of adequate safety equipment and facilities, along with hazardous working conditions, is considered a major factor contributing to accidents and mine collapses in Afghanistan.
