Amnesty International’s South Asia regional office says five years have passed since millions of girls in Afghanistan were deprived of education, with the restrictions affecting their dreams and aspirations.
The organization said on Thursday, September 17, on its X account that five years of denying millions of girls’ access to education amounts to five years of injustice and the destruction of their dreams and aspirations.
Despite five years of being denied access to education, Afghan girls continue to seek ways to pursue their studies and resist the restrictions.
Amnesty International said some girls have continued their efforts through protests, secret online education programs, or migrating abroad to continue their education.
The organization called on the international community to stand with Afghan women and girls and urge the Taliban to immediately reopen girls’ schools.
