Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi received the US response to Iran’s seven-day proposal aimed at building confidence between Washington and Tehran through Qatari mediators in Doha.
Reuters reported on Wednesday, September 30, citing a source familiar with the negotiations, that Araghchi received the US response on Tuesday.
According to the report, the sequence for implementing the proposed measures remains the main point of disagreement between the two sides.
The source added that Araghchi is expected to review the US response in Tehran on Wednesday.
Iran proposed the seven-day plan last week. Under the proposal, Araghchi said that if the necessary conditions were met, the Strait of Hormuz could be reopened and normal maritime traffic through the waterway could resume.
US President Donald Trump subsequently rejected the proposal, after which Qatar’s mediation efforts between the two sides continued.
