US President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu discussed the possibility of launching a major military operation against Iran ahead of Israel’s elections and the US midterm elections last week, Axios reported, citing American and Israeli officials.

The outlet reported on Tuesday night, October 13, that the discussion took place before Trump announced that he would not attack Iran before the US midterm elections.

According to the report, an Israeli official said Netanyahu had expressed concern during the call because Israeli intelligence indicated that Iran was taking worrying steps to revive its nuclear program.

However, sources said the Israeli and US militaries remain on alert and are completing their preparations to ensure they are ready to act if Trump changes his position.
