The U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) has accused Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) of “lying” about the situation in the Strait of Hormuz.
In a post on X early Tuesday, September 15, CENTCOM said claims by Iran’s Revolutionary Guards that an oil tanker had collided with a sea mine were false.
The U.S. military claimed that the oil tanker Al Gaya was targeted by a missile fired by the Revolutionary Guards last month, leaving it disabled.
According to CENTCOM, the same tanker, which was anchored off the coast of Oman, was targeted again by drones operated by Iran’s Revolutionary Guards late last week.
Meanwhile, the Iranian Revolutionary Guards have not claimed responsibility for attacks on oil tankers in the Strait of Hormuz in recent weeks.
However, the United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) has reported in recent days that several oil tankers in the Strait of Hormuz were struck by unidentified projectiles.
